Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Akpan

Chief  Dr. (Mrs) Victoria Arit Akpan (Chairperson Skills Acqusition)  was born in the Cameroun, on November 26, 1954. Her mother was Mrs. Mmayen Etim Bassey and her father Elder Etim Bassey hailed from Itu, Akwa Ibom State.

She started her academic career at Anglican Girls Primary School, Surulere. She attended the prestigious Methodist Girls High School in Yaba, Lagos. She studied French and Secretarial studies at Lagoon Bilingual Secretarial College. She majored in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations at the University of Lagos. In 2021, she was conferred a Doctor of Philosophy degree by Icon University of Management Science and Technology.

Victoria Akpan started her career as a secretary in the Nigerian Ports Authority. She went on to become the Admin Officer at Lagos and Niger shipping Agency, in Apapa, Lagos State. She was promoted to the role of Personnel, Admin and Insurance Manager. Her skills in people management, budgeting, finance, accounting, and skills development were harnessed to take the company and its employees to greater heights. She worked there for 20 years.

She is a member of the following professional associations:

  • Nigerian Employers Consultative Association
  • Nigerian Institute of Chartered Personnel Management.

She retired to focus on growing her entrepreneurial side by going into building her businesses focused on fashion, beauty, and clothing. She is the CEO of VBroadway & Essentials and Victorious Food Packaging. This consists of a boutique, fashion house, Spa, Water management, catering and events management A verified “foodie”, she loves to cook both authentic African and continental dishes. Not just for her family, but she is known to nourish everyone around her with her delicacies.

During most of her life, helping others was second nature to her. It was no wonder that she was always found part of fundraising at her church, visiting widows, helping orphans, raising funds for scholarships but to mention a few. She was bestowed a Chieftaincy title from her hometown for her efforts in driving development, peace and improvement in her community. She is known as the Adaidaha-ke-Efik-Ebrutu of Itu-Calabar and a member of Itu Council of Chiefs

As a member of the International Women’s Society, a not-for-profit organization improving the lives of women and girls, she has served in the roles of Asst. Treasurer, Treasurer, Asst. Membership, Programs Secretary, and now Chairperson – Skills Acquisition Centre.

She is currently serving in the following positions and organizations:

  • President of Amuwo Elites Lions Club.
  • President of Renowa (Retired Naval Officers Wives Association), an organization to help and support retired naval officer’s wives and their families.
  • She is the Handler of the Anchor for Lagos State Boy’s Brigade, and She is the Matron of Revival House of Glory Ministry.
  • As a devout Christian, her passion has resulted in her being made President of Women’s Guild – Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Lekki Parish.
  • She is Eka-Esop of Esop-Okon-Itu, Lagos State Branch.

She married her high school sweetheart, Rear Admiral Francis Dan Akpan (Rtd) and their home is blessed with three lovely children, Esiet, Daniel and Victor. She is also a grandmother to a growing family. She has two surviving siblings, she is passionate about her Faith, is dedicated to her church, to the spreading of the Word of God and helping the less privileged in the community.
